Serengeti Systems have developed a solution specifically for all Student Registry Departments. This solution has been developed in-conjunction with our clients and extends the core e-intranet Document Management Solution.
The functionality of the solution has been developed focussing on allowing all Users to process and manage documents (both electronic and scanned) based on their needs and processes.
The e-intranet Student Records Solution has been developed as a complete package, providing all functionality required and full integration with existing Student Registry Systems.

Scanning & Indexing
The e-intranet Student Records Solution provides full scanning and document capture capability regardless of format of incoming document both hardcopy & electronic. The system provides seamless capture of documents from all leading makes of scanning hardware.
As documents are received the solution provides full
- OCR (Optical Character Recognition - machine text)
- ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition - handwritten text)
- OMR (Optical Mark Recognition - bar code and check boxes) to extract the data from the document where appropriate.
The solution supports remote scanning (Central Post room, Bureau Scanning, etc) as well as scanning within the department.
Integration with Business Applications
Serengeti Systems have many years experience of integrating the e-intranet Document Management solution with most leading business applications.
- Integration can be achieved in a number of ways using industry standard protocols, including: SOAP, ODBC/JDBC, DDE, etc
As part of the integration a link is provided from the screens within the Student Registry system so that when a User is reviewing transactions within the system they would have the option to select a "button or link".
The action of selecting this link would pass a request across to e-intranet and return a list of all documents, which have been indexed with that particular value.
The results would be displayed within a browser allowing the User to view all documents related to that Student.
As new documents are scanned or added electronically they would automatically be available for display. This applies to all documents and files captured regardless of format.
